LET members Laurette Maritz, Cecilie Lundgreen and caddie/coach Reeve A.Nield have been changing lives in Zimbabwe.

Using their own amazing organisational skills and resources, and with the help of  their sponsor ‘Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics’, they have distributed medical supplies, food, books, clothing, school supplies, reading glasses and wheelchairs to many of the poorest people who are in desperate need.

‘Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics’ has donated five containers since 2003 for shipping to ‘Eyes for Zimbabwe’ and ‘The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ has donated another five containers over the past four years.

The golfing trio took responsibility for filling the boxes and hand packing the containers before distributing them to the children in need.

According to Reeve, a number of orphanages, including one which cares for up to 500 children, received the donated goods.

In a written statement, she said: “It was absolutely terrific having the containers arrive in Zimbabwe; Thank you for each and every item that you so kindly donated to the people of Africa. Your contributions have touched, changed and improved so many lives. And your books will bless generations to come with the priceless ‘gift’ of literacy.”

She continued: “Unpacking the containers is always tremendous; better than any Christmas! Bush hospitals and orphanages collected medical supplies, blankets, food and clothing.”

Their charity, ‘Eyes for Zimbabwe’, continues to give sight to those aged from six months to 100 years old.
