It’s hard work being a professional golfer, as you can see from these pictures of the players who ventured out on a whale watching excursion in Tenerife on Wednesday. The Promoter of the Tenerife Ladies Match Play, Deporte & Business, organised the trip on a luxury catamaran to allow the elite field of competitors a welcome break ahead of this week’s tournament at Golf Las Americas on the south of the island.
Among those who set sail from Port Columbus in Puerto Colón were the 2010 Tenerife Ladies Open champion Trish Johnson, the 2009 event winner Felicity Johnson and the 2008 champion Rebecca Hudson, as well as Becky Brewerton, Zuzana Kamasova, Kristie Smith, Virginie Lagoutte-Clement, Frances Bondad, Krystle Caithness, Frances Bondad, Hannah Jun, Beth Allen, Morgana Robbertze, Kiran Matharu, Kylie Walker, Emma Cabrera-Bello, Bettina Hauert and Lydia Hall.
After the trip, the players returned to the Mare Nostrum Resort in Las Americas, where they enjoyed a welcome reception beside the Cleopatra palace hotel pool. The Tenerife Ladies Open gets underway from Friday, with a matchplay knock-out format for the first two days, followed by Strokeplay for Sunday's final round.
