With golf rejoining the Summer Olympics at Rio de Janeiro in 2016, we asked European Solheim Cup team member Maria Hjorth of Sweden her thoughts about the Games.

What are your favourite Olympic sports? I like a lot of the sports! But I really like to watch the swimming, athletics and tennis!

Who are your favourite Olympic athletes and why? Michael Phelps is obviously very impressive! But I am a huge Federer fan so I have to mention him too!

Have you got any plans to go to watch any events during London 2012? No, it’s very expensive and I like to watch TV and see more different sports than just one!

Which country do you think will win more medals during London 2012? What about Great Britain? I would say America since they are great in Athletics but China will get a lot of medals too! GB will win a lot of medals as well I think but not close to any of the top countries!

Which Olympic Games was your favourite and why? Can't tell you! I have not watched them that close to have an opinion. Sydney was good but I don't remember enough to compare!

Do you practice currently or have you ever practiced any other Olympic Sport, apart from Golf? I played curling until 1998 and that got into the winter Olympics a few years back!

What are your favourite moment at any Olympics Games? I always like the opening ceremonies. It is great to see that many amazing athletes together in one small place!

Have you met any other Olympic medallists apart from Vera Shimanskaya? Yes, I have met a few Swedish Olympians! Tomas Johansson a great Swedish speed skater and then of course the Olympic curlers! A few of the downhill and cross country skiers too.

If you were not a golf professional, what other Olympic Sport would you like to practice? Tennis.

If you had not dedicated your career to golf, in which other Olympic Sport you think you would have succeeded? Curling.

Do you know the procedure to get selected for golf in 2016? It is from the world ranking! 60 players total, a country can have a maximum of 4 players playing but then they have to have at least 2 players in the top 15 of world ranking. If not then every country gets two players from the world ranking!

How do you think golf will change from 2016 after becoming an Olympic sport again? Not much at all. I just think it will be great for smaller countries to have an opportunity to compete in a big golf event and at the Olympics!
