Carlota Ciganda has taken the Ladies European Tour by storm this year with two victories in the Netherlands and China. The 22-year-old is on target to win both Rolex Rookie of the Year and ISPS Handa Order of Merit titles, becoming the first player to win both since Laura Davies in 1985.

What’s the best thing about being a professional golfer? That I get to do what I love, which is to play golf!! Also we have the opportunity to meet so many people from different countries! Finally, the places you get to visit and see, makes you more open-minded and respectful: lots of positives.

Who is the golfer you most admire? Tiger Woods, because he has been one of the best athletes in the world and nowadays Rory McIlroy! I love the way he plays: fearless.

What’s your one biggest strength? I would see my fighting attitude.

What’s the shot you love to practise? Flop shots.

When are you going to reach your peak? Hard question to answer! That’s very hard in golf but I would say in two to three years.

Define yourself in 3 words: Competitive, calm and positive.

What do you do for entertainment when travelling? Reading, watch movies and visit places if we are close to a city.

Which player is the biggest joker? Stacey Keating, she is the best! Always laughing and has a great attitude.

Which player is the quietest? Don’t know.

What’s the strangest superstition you’ve ever seen? Not sure! Speaking when you are swinging the club.

Language you’d like to learn: French.

Musical instrument you’d like to play: Piano.

What’s your lowest round ever and where did you have it? 9 under in my home course a few years ago, practicing! 8 under in a tournament.

Age you first broke par: 10.

How many holes in one and where? I had 3! The first one when I was 8, in Gorraiz, a course in Pamplona! I hit 150 yards with a 7-wood. My second was in Zaragoza: pitching wedge 100meters and the third one in the Finnair Masters 2011: 140m with an 8-iron.

Chosen career if not a golfer? Probably a tennis player.

Hidden talent? Playing table tennis.

How would you spend a perfect day? Play some golf in the morning, have a good lunch and then siesta! Play some sports (tennis or paddle) in the afternoon! Dinner with friends and family: a simple life with the people you love makes my day/life perfect.
