|Four-time major winner and ‘golf in DUBAi’ ambassador Laura Davies and Shanshan Feng, the only golfer from mainland China to win a title on the LPGA Tour, are paired together in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters Challenge Match to be held at the Emirates Golf Club par-3 course on Monday, December 3.
Four-time major winner and ‘golf in DUBAi’ ambassador Laura Davies and Shanshan Feng, the only golfer from mainland China to win a title on the LPGA Tour, are paired together in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters Challenge Match to be held at the Emirates Golf Club par-3 course on Monday, December 3.
The match, which showcases marquee players competing in the Ladies European Tour's season-ending event, will have a bit of a ‘local flavour’ as well with Dubai-based amateur Kavita Sehmi joining a star-studded cast which promises to put on a special ‘short game clinic’ at the par-3 course, starting at 6pm.
Kavita, who plays off a one handicap, will team up with charismatic Michelle Wie while South Korea’s Seo Kyung-hee is paired with Lexi Thompson, who won last year’s Challenge Match in the company of Sweden’s Sophie Gustafson, in the six-player line-up, which will follow the greensomes format.
The fun-filled event, which traditionally marks the opening of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters week, will provide spectators with an opportunity to see the game's biggest stars up close and personal. All the fans will have an easy access to the course and they will be allowed to carry cameras and can take photos of their favourite stars.
The match will be followed by a gala dinner reception highlighted by a series of entertaining events, including best-dressed competition, .The players, representatives of the sponsors and invited guests can also bid for exclusive sports memorabilia during a live auction to benefit Breast Cancer Arabia.
‘golf in DUBAi, the promoters and organizers of the season-ending Ladies European Tour event, have made elaborate arrangements to ensure fans enjoy the proceedings on all four days of the main tournament, starting on December 5.
A giant TV screen has been installed in the 'public village' for them to catch up live action. Different food and beverage outlets, fun games for children and free golf clinics will further add to the carnival-like atmosphere at the village. Various distributors of golf equipment will also display their wares at the exhibition hall in the village.
