A quick 18 with Marta Silva from Spain

Getting to know the LET rookie from Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.

Spain's Marta Silva turned professional last October after graduating in the US and finished tied for 43rd place at Lalla Aicha Tour School Final Qualifying 2013. She has now 9b exemption category.

1.      How did you get into golf?

I started playing golf when I was nine years old and I’m now 22.

2.      Who introduced you to golf?

My parents and my brother played so I just started.

3.      Where did you go to university?

I went to the University of Georgia and just graduated this past June. I did Communications Studies.

4.      What did you do after graduating?

I came to Spain for a month and I played one tournament but mostly just relaxed. I went back to the States in August and practised in Sea Island and prepared for the LPGA Q School. I went through the first stage, then I played the World Am in Turkey, then I went back to the States to play the second stage and it didn’t go that great, so I came back to Spain and I’ve just been practising there until LET Tour School. I turned pro in October.

5.      Where are you from in Spain?

The north west, Galicia. Santiago de Compostela.

6.      What languages do you speak?

Spanish and English.

7.      Best round, when and where

63, in Saddle Brook in Florida.

8.      Best part of your game?

I would say my long game.

I love sports, so I love playing tennis, playing paddel, beach volleyball and of course hanging out with my friends, my family.

I’m not a huge football fan. I’m a Barcelona fan, because of my brother, who is a huge, huge fan. I don’t like Madrid at all! In American football of course Georgia.

15.  Any friends already on this Tour?

Yes, lots, that’s the best part about this game!
