Cheyenne Woods was on the ground at Merion Golf Club last week covering the U.S. Open as a journalist for Back9NetworkTV.
She gave her uncle, Tiger, a surprise when she asked him the following question in a pre-tournament press conference: “The US Open is usually one of the most gruelling weeks of golf so what would you do off the course in order to be at ease and relax so that you could perform on the course?”
After a short chuckle, he eventually replied and Cheyenne reported that asking the players questions was a lot of fun and a great experience.
She said: “It’s been really fun, it’s been a great break in between events, to go and cover the men and kind of be on the other side of the mike. I really enjoy it and it’s always been something I wanted to do so it’s been a good balance for me. I wanted to play so bad, I couldn’t wait to get out here and compete.
“Tiger has always been a great support for me. Seeing him be so successful is definitely motivation and inspiration for me. To see someone from my family out there competing so well. I love watching him play and have always wanted to be out there like him. I’m out here just trying to do the same thing.”

Whilst playing in the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open presented by Respect at Talé Resort near Brezno this week she will be back on the other side of the microphone.
She says that the verdant green mountain-side course is very different to her home in Arizona, but she is excited to get going.
“It’s beautiful. I didn’t know what to expect coming here to Slovakia but I think it’s a special place, so peaceful and it’s kind of out in the middle of nowhere but then you see this beautiful golf course. Arizona is very different and I practise out in the desert with the cactus and everything, so this is a treat for me.
“The course is in great shape and I’ve heard so many things about this tournament and how fun it is for the players, so I’m looking forward to the week.”
