Denmark’s Line Vedel is hoping for history to repeat itself this week when she defends the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open 2013 at Golf Resort Talé near Brezno.
With her mother Susanne on caddie duties, the 24-year-old fromTinglev secured her maiden title at the venue last year with rounds of 71, 69 and 69 for a three-round total of seven-under-par.
Her mother will be on the bag again this year as she goes in pursuit of a second Ladies European Tour title and Vedel said: “I’ve got good memories from here so it’s nice to be back. I like the way that you have to think you’re way around the course so I’m looking forward to it. I want to play well.
Vedel recently struggled with a back injury but added: “I have played well the last couple of events and my back is better now, so that’s nice. Hopefully it’s going to stay that way. It’s nice to have some pressure on you.”
Temperatures soared to 35C on Tuesday and Wednesday before thunder, lightning, heavy rain and hail fell on Gray Bear Golf Course at Golf Resort Talé on Wednesday afternoon.
Although Vedel preferred the hot weather, she prospered in similar conditions last year when firing five birdies on Sunday afternoon after a one hour 20 minute weather delay.
