This year, U.S. college-educated Maha Haddioui is the first Moroccan player to have full access to play on the Ladies European Tour and she recently recorded a career-best tie for 20th place at the LACOSTE Ladies Open de France.
Whilst at Chantaco Golf Club, she spoke about her tournament preparation and how she would spend a perfect day when at home in Agadir.
I always wake up 3 hours before my tee time. I have breakfast as soon as I wake up and after breakfast do some stretching. I take it easy and re-pack my golf bag.
I get to the golf course about an hour before and start with hitting balls, then chipping and putting.
I start with pace putts and hit a few putts to nowhere. I don’t aim for anything. If the three balls fall together that means the pace is good.
Then I start focusing on the line, reading lines and then technique.
I finish with three short putts of one metre. The last putt has got to be in!
I go to the tee ten minutes before and I always put a smile on my ball. (I use Titleist ProV1s).
A Practice Day at Home:
I wake up at 6:30 and go for a run for 30 minutes. I shower and then take breakfast at a café in Agadir centre.
At Golf du Soleil, I go to the driving range, putt and then go back to the driving range.
I’ll finish with short game practice and depart around 3pm. I’ll usually play 18 holes once every three days.
Around 4pm, I go to the gym with my mum and we play volleyball from 5.30-6.30pm.
If I’m looking to practice in tournament conditions, I’ll go to Rabat or Marrakech to play with my male friends who are also professional golfers and we’ll play 18 holes or 27 holes every day and play games and matches.
A perfect Day at Home:
I wake up around 6:30 or 7:00 and take my time, watch TV, walk my four dogs and go to the beach. (I live next to the beach). Maybe I’ll start surfing because a lot of people in my city surf and I’m pretty bad.
I like reading in the marina. There are not a lot of things to do so when I’m not playing golf I don’t know what to do with myself!
I love to go and visit places. This year I’ve visited everywhere.
