History has been made at Legend Golf & Safari Resort in South Africa with two well-known figures from the world of golf getting hitched on top of the world’s longest par-three – the Extreme 19th.

Four-time Ladies European Tour champion Lynnette Brooky of New Zealand married Seve Ballesteros’ former coach Ian Godleman in a ceremony on the tee box 400m above a green the shape of Africa.

The couple met while Ian was coaching Lynnette on the Ladies European Tour and now they have said their vows in a most unique place.

Ian said: “I have been bringing golfers to this most amazing resort for several years now and we thought what better place for two golfers to say “I do” to each other.

“To be the first couple in the world to do this is quite surreal and almost like a scene from a James Bond movie. I was a little nervous that we couldn't pull it off as the logistics and the amount of people involved in this over the last 12 months was staggering and they all came up trumps.

“Lynnette looked amazing and when I saw her fly in and step out of the helicopter in her black and silver dress I just thought, ‘Wow!’”

The wedding was a VIP affair with sparkling wine supplied from Winston Churchill’s birth and resting place at Blenheim Palace and Omega giving a wedding present of a giant clock in honour of New Zealander Lynnette’s 19 years on the Ladies European Tour.

Lynnette said: “It was a truly amazing day and the African people give you so much love. On the day we experienced something incredibly unique and very special. It was all so perfect and I would love to have this day over and over again.”

Some 'lovely messages' from current and former LET players Charley Hull, Sophie Gustafson, Natascha Fink and Lisa Holm Sorensen were read out to Lynnette and Ian at the wedding, for which they would like to express their sincere gratitude.

In addition to Seve, Ian has coached Ryder Cup players Paul Way and Philip Price and now runs Pro Golfing Tours with Lynnette from their homes in Switzerland and New Zealand. Their company is unique and specialises in hosted luxury golf tours utilising the vast tour experience that the new husband & wife team Ian and Lynnette have gained by teaching and playing on Tour at venues all over the world.

They are planning to bring three groups back to Legend Golf & Safari Resort in 2016 and at the same time celebrate their second wedding anniversary on the mountain they will forever cherish.

The Extreme 19th is just one of the many attractions at Legend Golf & Safari Resort, which also boasts the unique 18-hole signature golf course. The layout draws on the design skills of 18 of the world’s top golfers, including Padraig Harrington, Retief Goosen, Sergio Garcia and Jim Furyk.

The 22,000 hectare malaria-free resort is also home to the Big 5 – mixing the very best of luxury, golf and safari in the most unique of settings.
