Sean Horan is Physiotherapist and Exercise Scientist with a special interest in golf. Sean works in private practice on the Gold Coast (Queensland, Australia), where he provides assessment and treatment programs to elite and recreational golfers as well as performing golf specific musculoskeletal screenings aimed at improving performance and preventing injuries. Sean has a particular interest in educating and working with young elite golfers but also enjoys working with older golfers. Sean has consulted as a physiotherapist to the ALPG at the ANZ Ladies Masters and the Australian PGA at the Queensland Open. He has also provided various golf specific workshops and lectures to trainee professionals, teaching professionals, physiotherapists and post-graduate sports physiotherapy students. Sean is also actively involved in the delivery of golf specific fitness classes to a range of golfers.
As well as working clinically with golfers, Sean is a sessional Lecturer, and is also currently undertaking his PhD, at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. Sean's PhD is largely focussed on investigating the potential kinematic and physical differences between elite male and female golfers. The distinct lack of published research pertaining to the female golf swing has been a large motivating factor for Sean. This research will hopefully provide a greater insight into the female golf swing and allow for more specific training and injury prevention programs to be developed for the female golfer.
