Tenth ‘Dutch’ player joins Deloitte Ladies Open
 Print

Caroline Bon has been handed a wild card for the Deloitte Ladies Open, thanks to her Dutch heritage.

The 24-year-old first year Ladies European Tour player has Dutch parents and holds dual nationality, but represents New Zealand, where she was born.

Caroline missed out on earning her full card for the 2011 LET season, after finishing 55th at Q School Final Stage at La Manga in Spain in December.

However, she has already played in four tournaments this season. She missed the cut at both the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open and ANZ RACV Ladies Masters, tied for 15th at the Pegasus New Zealand Women's Open – the same position as current LET No.1 Christel Boeljon - and tied for 63rd at the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open last week.

She started playing golf aged 13 and unofficially brings to 10 the number of Dutch players in this week’s tournament field, but officially, there are nine.

Christel Boeljon leads the way and will tee off at 9am from the 10th hole in Friday’s opening round with defending champion Florentyna Parker and Ashleigh Simon.

LET rookie Marieke Nivard forms part of a marquee group at 1.30pm with Zuzana Kamasova and Caroline Masson, while Marjet van der Graaff, who is playing at her home course, will start at 1.40pm with Caroline Hedwall and Carin Koch.

The other Dutch players in the field are Chrisje de Vries, Kyra Van Leeuwen, Mette Hageman and amateurs Krista Bakker, Myrte Eikenaar and Karlijn Zaanen.
