This month, the LET is celebrating all things chic!
‘Chic’ is one of the Ladies European Tour’s brand values and the month starts with a new tournament: the WORLD LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP at Mission Hills Hainan in China, where there will be three FASHION AWARDS.
There will be an extra award in the professional individual strokeplay, amateur individual strokeplay and professional team events for the trendiest/best dressed player to be presented immediately following the official prize giving. Mission Hills has developed the extra awards to ‘create some extra interest’ and ‘add some fun’.
Following on from that is DEN BOSCH GOLF FASHION WEEK in the Netherlands from March 5-11. Dutch LET member Chrisje de Vries will compete in a nine-hole tournament where the winner will be judged not only by the results on the course but also by her ‘chic’ fashion credentials.
The Ladies European Tour will be promoted at the VIP Golf Fashion Runway Extravaganza and furthermore, Addy van den Krommenacker, Holland’s premier couturier and representative for The Netherlands at next year’s global designer showcase in New York has agreed to open Golf Fashion Week. The Ladies European Tour will benefit through the association by being visible in fashion media including www.apparelwire.com in the United States and the Fashion & Style page of www.golfweekly.nl . Several LET players have donated items like Solheim Cup memorabilia for the Golf Fashion Week lottery to benefit Pink Ribbon. UK based Golfing World TV will be present all week with a camera crew to shoot footage of the inaugural Golf Fashion Week to be broadcasted worldwide.
The next tournament in March will be the LALLA MERYEM CUP at Golf de L’Ocean in Agadir, Morocco, from March 22-24. For the third successive year, the LET event will be played in the same city and during the same week as the men’s PGA European Tour event: the Hassan II Golf Trophy at the Royal Golf Dars es Salam Course and the male and female professional golfers and guests will attend a number of ‘chic’ and glamorous functions together.
During March, the LET will launch GOLF CHIC: the official magazine of the Ladies European Tour in the UK. The publication will be packed full of news, interviews, instruction, travel, equipment and lifestyle features and will be available to read at tournament sites and at a number of other locations including on newsstands.
Throughout March, the LET will also run an online competition, called MARCH CHIC BY LACOSTE, where fans can nominate the most ‘chic’ Lacoste player on Tour. Voting will be through the LET Facebook page and one of the lucky voters will be chosen at random to receive a complete Golf Outfit from Lacoste, the official clothing supplier to the LET.
Lacoste is undeniably chic and we think you’ll agree that its 14 LET ambassadors are too, so get ready to cast your vote and join in ‘March Chic’ with the LET.
