Turkey-bound Booth targeting next victory

Scottish teenager Carly Booth will be brimming with confidence at this week’s Turkish Airlines Ladies Open, having just posted her maiden LET victory in her native Scotland.

The 19-year-old played through a mixed conditions at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open but should not have any problem readjusting to the warm and calm conditions at National Golf Club in Belek, Antalya.

After her win, she tweeted: “Thanks so much again everyone for the messages. Leaving for Turkey tomorrow! Can't wait for some heat after this week lol.”

She also wrote: “Words can't describe my happiness right now!”

A popular winner, Carly is on a roll after her win two weeks previously on the LET Access Series and will be hoping to take that momentum through to Turkey, where she will be targeting a place on the winner’s podium once again.

She will face stiff competition from the likes of defending champion Christel Boeljon from the Netherlands, who claimed her maiden win last year in Turkey before going on to represent Europe on the winning Solheim Cup team.  She began 2012 strongly with her most recent victory at the Gold Coast RACV Australian Ladies Masters in Queensland.

Florentyna Parker, who was runner up in the last year´s Turkish event, also tied for second in Scotland, with  Australian Frances Bondad, one shot behind Carly.

The field also includes the 2010 winner Melissa Reid, the 2008 winner Lotta Wahlin, Helen Alfredsson, Laura Davies, Trish Johnson, Lee-Anne Pace, Becky Brewerton, Gwladys Nocera and Karen Lunn and Lindsey Wright, recent winners in Morocco and New Zealand respectively.

All of the top 19 players from last week’s Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open are among the field of 126 competitors travelling to Turkey this week, which includes two amateur players.

Yasemin Sari will be Turkey’s sole representative and is joined by England’s Charley Hull, who is the other amateur in the field.
