Yasemin Sari is the only representative from Turkey in the field for the 2012 Turkish Airlines Ladies Open. The 16-year-old amateur aims to make the cut on her second appearance in a Ladies European Tour event having missed the weekend after opening rounds of 83 and 82 at National Golf Club last year.
“I’m proud to play with professional players and represent Turkey. It’s very nice,” Sari said. “I like the golf course. It’s very tough but it’s fun to play.”
Born and raised in Germany to Turkish parents, Sari was introduced to golf aged three and was taught by her father, Yusuf, who is a golf professional. She currently resides in Kadenbach, Germany and plays at Golf Club Rheinhessen.
Her father is caddying in the LET event at National Golf Club although nowadays she is also taught by the Turkish National Team coach, Spencer Henderson.
Sari hopes to become a golf professional after attending university, thereby making history for both her country and the LET.
