English amateur star Charley Hull will be warming up for next month’s Curtis Cup with her debut in a Ladies European Tour event at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open.
The Woburn-member played in her first Major at the Kraft Nabisco Championship a month ago where she tied for 38th place – ahead of the likes of Ai Miyazato, Morgan Pressel, Melissa Reid, Caroline Hedwall, Karen Stupples and Sophie Gustafson - so it will be interesting to watch how she fares at National Golf Club in Belek, Antalya having only recently turned 16.
“I’m really looking forward to it: it should be good. It’s my first time in Turkey,” Hull said.
“My dad’s here with me but we’ve got someone to carry my bag on the way around. A guy who is on holiday here and he’s English. I’ll just go out there have fun and enjoy it.”
Unfazed by the attention of recent events – she was excluded and then included in the GB&I Curtis Cup team - she is even more relaxed having played in the Pro Am with Helen Alfredsson on Wednesday.
“It was really, really fun and she was really nice,” she said. “You just have to hit it straight and have a good short game around here.”

Best ever score? I shot 8 under when I was younger round the Duke’s Course at Woburn, my home course.
Favourite club in the bag? Don’t have a favourite. Like all of them.
Golfing hero? Tiger Woods. Top five would be Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, Ricky Fowler and Rory McIlroy, but I like Yani Tseng and Lexi Thompson as well.
Favourite music? R&B, pop and dance music.
Favourite Movie? 21 Jump Street: I love that movie, it’s so funny! I like Mission Impossible.
Twitter or Facebook? Twitter is a lot better than Facebook. I’ve got loads of followers and stuff.
Favourite fashion designer? I like fashion away from the golf course. At night, I like designer but in the day, cool clothes.
Chosen career if not a professional golfer? I’d like to do something in science. I don’t know really. I haven’t thought about it.
Favourite school subject? P.E. I like science too.
