We caught up with Trish Johnson, one of Britain’s most successful women golfers of all time. Trish has earned 18 LET titles and three on the LPGA, who has represented Europe on eight Solheim Cup teams and is one of the few players to have topped 2 million Euros in earnings despite spending much of her career in the United States.
Best golf tip or trip: Best tip is: “Keep your head down” and best trip was the tournament in Hawaii.
Hidden Talent: I do not have any!
Biggest fear: I am scared of fire.
Dream foursome: Ian Botham (cricketer), Dennis Bergkamp (played with Arsenal) and Ian Wright, both football players and me.
Favourite non-golf athlete Ian Botham.
What do you like or prefer to cook when you are at home with friends? Following my recipe book, the one from Jamie Oliver. My special is baked cod with avocado and prawns and cream sauce.
Favourite club 7-iron.
Favourite distance and shot you love to practice 150 yards, with a 7 iron.
On your playlist: It varies....from Jessie J to a wide range.
What do you do when you spend your time at the airports? Drink champagne.
Favourite golfer: Seve.
Lowest round ever: 58, when I was 21...and I had -11 (61) at Le Golf d’Arras.
Age I first broke 70: When 15 or 16 years old.
What’s in your bag, and apart from clubs? Waterproofs, phone....I play with a Titleist driver, Ping woods and irons, a Rife putter.
Place to which you would love to escape: Spain, Desert Springs.
Any extravagance? Gambling.
What is the quality you appreciate the most? Honesty.
