Anaïs Rookie Blog

After the tournaments in Morocco and Turkey my caddy Mr Brown and myself were heading towards Munich to the UniCredit German Ladies Open. We decided to drive by car as it was not too far away from home. A couple of months ago Jaguar and I entered a partnership and I got my Anaïs Mobil, a beautiful white XF!. It was a great opportunity to drive the car a longer distance to my third tournament.

Arriving at the golf club Gut Häusern we were quite impressed about the whole set up of the tournament. There were public areas including public viewing, many exhibiting companies trying to sell their golf products and many food stands. We immediately felt like home. Especially having a real Mass Beer as an arrival drink.

Then the practice days started and I felt good. My coach Steve Rey was on site and we worked on a few technical issues. My long game was during the whole the tournament very solid and I felt so confident. Unfortunately I was not sinking too many putts. But this was not the worst thing during the tournament… In the morning of the third round I was heating up as usual on the driving range and suddenly I felt a stabbing pain on my back. This was no good, I thought it would get better and went on the first tee. After 4 holes the pain got even worse and a physiotherapist came to see me on the course. I am so glad that pain killers do exist, this was my tournament saver and of course the treatments after and before the next round of the LET physiotherapist. So I got to know Dr Andy (Full name: Dr Andrew Levick). After the treatments I looked like a zebra as my back was bandaged with colourful tapes, but it helped. That’s how I could finish to play the UniCredit Ladies German Open, with rounds of 71,72,70 and 73. A total score of 286 (-2), which ended in the 29th ranking for the tournament. My first top 30. I was happy and satisfied as this was the first tournament whereas all my rounds were consistent.

I am actually living my dream, being able to play one tournament after the other, always on fantastic golf courses and the promoters and various sponsors who are overmatching each other with their side events and specials for the players, this is just great. We always have a great time off the course too and travelling from one country to another and getting to know some cultural background is very interesting.
