Karen Lunn (right) celebrating her victory at the 2012 Lalla Meryem Cup with fellow Australian player Stacey Keating

Karen Lunn is one of the most experienced players on the LET. She joined in 1985 and has recorded 10 LET victories, with her most recent at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Agadir, Morocco, which she will defend in March. She is one of the top "Aussies" on the ISPS Handa Order of Merit 2012 (35) together with Stacey Keating, Lindsey Wright and Nikki Garrett. Karen took time out from her busy schedule to answer our Q&A ahead of the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters.

Where are you born and where is it exactly in the country? Sydney, Australia. Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales, situated on the South East part of the island.

Tell us more about where you were born:  It is the biggest city and Australia but I left there when I was 7 and grew up in a place called Cowra, 200 miles west of Sydney

What is the best thing about your country? So many things.... Outdoor relaxed lifestyle, weather though at the moment it is very unpredictable!!

Tell us something about any of your festivities, what do you do and where do you go? Enjoy fishing, the beach and going to the races!

Your favourite place and why...  Western Australia is my favorite place, laid back people, great food and amazing sunsets!

Typical food and drinks from your area that you love.. any seafood and Western Australian white wine

If you like cooking, what typical food from your country do you like to cook? Good steak and seafood

Be our travel guide... what places would you recommend us to visit in your country and things to do? Australia is a massive country and you need a lot time to see everything. It is very diverse in terms of weather, vegetation and scenery. I would say Sydney, Perth, the barrier reef and Tasmania are must see places. Saying that there is so much of our great country I haven’t seen

One of the topics that we found regarding the Australians/New Zealand’s is that people there enjoy a laid back and social lifestyle. What’s your typical weekend? Just going to the beach, fishing having a  day at the races and having a barbeque with friends

We do not often see kangaroos, koalas or kiwis in Europe… How often do you see them? Have you got any photos with them that you could share with us? Have seen loads of kangaroos in the wild and on many golf courses. Only ever seen a couple of koalas in the wild.

Which is the most popular sport in your country? Give us an example of how popular it is. What about golf and women’s golf? What about rugby?  Cricket and rugby league where I come from. Sport is a religion in Australia

What are your favourite sports and teams that you support? Do you attend any games?  I support West Tigers in NRL and the Australian cricket team whenever they are playing. I try to go to as many games as possible but I am away from home so much it is difficult. I will hopefully get to the Ashes in the UK this summer.

What does horse racing and “The Melbourne Cup” mean to you and your country? For me I am a massive horse racing fan, so the Melbourne cup is a very big deal to me and to a lot of people in Australia. It is marketed as the race stops a nation and that is no exaggeration! Everyone knows it is happening and even those who never normally have a bet or watch racing love it and get involved.

What about surfing in Australia? Do you surf, did you surf at school and how good are you? I have never surfed properly but love body surfing . I grew up 200 miles form the ocean so it wasn’t easy! We did a lot of water skiing when we were young so that was how we spent most weekends!

Who is your favourite celebrity/personality/idol from your country that you are really proud of and why? Hugh Jackmann he has been so successful and seemed so grounded and normal

Who is your favourite golf player from your country? And sportsmen/women? Peter Thomson/ Adam Scott and Karrie Webb

What do you miss from home when you come to Europe to play? Family, friends, weather and the lifestyle

Is there something unusual from your country that you could explain to us? For example (Australians seem to be fascinated with Big Things or love unique sporting events including some of the most unusual races) nothing unusual to me!

The Aboriginal culture is rich with stories and legends – are you familiar with any? The town I grew up in cowra has strong aboriginal origins, the name Cowra means eagle on the rock

What are your favourite Australian sayings? (for example: Arvo – this is short for afternoon. 'Drop by this arvo') there are too many really, when we are at home amongst family and friends we almost speak a different language.
