Third blog from Andrew Skinner: Supporting ISPS Handa and Disabled Golf.
 Print

The LET is supporting ISPS Handa and disabled golf and will be following the progression of some of the players who participated in the Pro Am and clinics at the ISPS Handa Ladies British Masters in August 2012. This is the third blog from our friend Andrew Skinner:

"Well what can I say, since my last diary entry for the Ladies European Tour it has been manic for me in golf terms. In April I was invited to play in the ISPS Handa Welsh Open sponsors day at the 2010 course at Celtic Manor in Wales, UK. It was an amazing experience and to play on the former Ryder Cup course was a dream come true and played some of my best golf to date. SkySports were in attendance and recorded the clinic and went on air the following Saturday with a great public response to the programme. Here is the link to that piece, I start to appear just after the 2 minute mark:  http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/golf/8674668/

I have also joined a new golfing establishment, Lincoln Golf Club, It's one of the best in the county and one of my coaches (Dave Middleton) is the PGA Pro there. I look forward to playing many great rounds there and educating the members about disability golf and winning competitions.

On 6th June 2013, I was invited to play in the Pro-Am for the 2013 ISPS Handa PGA British Seniors tournament. This was in conjunction with Craig Thomas and The Golf Academy. That was was just as amazing as the Celtic Manor experience and the whole event was at the DeVere Mottram Hall which is just outside Manchester, UK. My Pro for the day was the legend Bill Longmuir and we had a great time playing the course in glorious sunshine. Of course Sky Sports were there filming the four days seniors' play and were present at the clinic run by Craig Thomas, the difference this time was the senior pros were watching and couldn't praise us, Craig and ISPS Handa enough for the hard work being put into disabled golf at the moment.

As I said, the effort that ISPS Handa, Craig Thomas and with the help of sponsors like The Ladies European Tour, Blind and Disabled golf is going from strength to strength. I can't thank you all enough and hope to see you on a course very soon.

As always I'm lucky enough to train everyday and play rounds of this great sport, as my work as a photographer allows me to work in the evenings and some weekends. I still train with my coaches Craig Thomas (once a month) and Dave Middleton every week and can't thank them enough for all their hard work and belief in me, also to my family for their help and support in getting me to tournaments and ultimately the EDGA tour next year."
