At the 2013 Lacoste Ladies Open de France opening party held on Tuesday evening in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Karine Icher, Azahara Muñoz, Carlota Ciganda and Charley Hull received a special distinction from Lacoste for their role in Europe's recent Solheim Cup victory.
To pay tribute to Europe's first-ever win on American soil in Solheim Cup history, where the team achieved a crushing 18-10 record margin of victory in Colorado on 18th August, Lacoste presented the four European team members present in Chantaco this week.
The Frenchwoman, the two Spaniards and the Englishwoman were all awarded a massive, elegant Baccarat crystal crocodile. As a symbol, they received their trophies at the hands of the only two French Majors winners in women's golf history: Patricia Meunier-Lebouc, the 2003 Kraft Nabisco champion and an ambassador for the Lacoste brand today, and 1967 US Open winner Catherine Lacoste, the daughter of the crocodile brand's founder.
During the opening gala held in the magnificent Hélianthal hotel, Golf de Chantaco chairwoman Valérie Smondack and Saint-Jean-de-Luz mayor Peyuco Duhart also congratulated the four champions, and expressed their gratitude for starring in this year's Lacoste Ladies Open de France.
