Melodie Bourdy was born in France and turned professional in 2006. One year later, she joined the Ladies European Tour and played her best season in 2008, when earned a career best tie for 2nd at the Scandinavian TPC hosted by Annika in Sweden. She has been combining LETAS with some LET events these two past years and finished 163th at the Order of Merit in 2013. Brother is European Tour professional Gregory Bourdy and they normally meet doing their job at the Lalla Meryem Cup and the Trophée Hassan II.
We interviewed Melodie, who is now 27 years old, at the Lalla Aicha Tour School in Rabat, where finished 7th and went forward to Final Qualifier.
Q: How and when did you start to play golf?
I started to play golf when I was two or three years old because all my family played. This was in Bordeaux. My brother is professional, too, so we practiced everyday together and played a lot when we were young.
Q: What have you been doing all this year?
I have been playing some pro am´s and small tournaments in France. I did not play much LETAS events this year, just the two events in France (Terre Blanche and the Dinard Ladies Open) and stayed home practicing. I have been also working in some corporate golf days.
Q: How do you feel now, are you ready for the Qualifying School?
Yes, I think I am ready. I am more confident which I think it is the most important for me. When I feel confident, I play better.
Q: Tell us about your game, what is the best part of your game?
My best part are driving and the wedges. My driving is not too strong, but really straight.
Q: What about your putting? It is getting better and better. I work on it a lot and I am much better mentally. Normally my putter is very bad, so I was less confident in the game because it is more difficult when you know you cannot make the putts. But now, this week, I play much better because I know I can make them. It makes it a lot different.
Q: Your lowest round this year
It is probably two or three under during the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.
