Anna Scott was born in Consett, north of England 27 years ago. She went to Georgia State University where graduated in Sports Journalism and turned professional afterwards, in 2009. She attended her first Final Q-School for 2012 in La Manga (Spain) and she finished tied for 43rd. This allowed her to play few events on the 2012 LET season.

Anna moved to Germany in April this year and now represents Golfsportclub Rheine/Mesum. We interviewed Anna at the Lalla Aicha Tour School in Rabat, where finished 3rd and went forward to Final Qualifier.

Q: How and when did you start to play golf?

I started to play golf in Consett, which is my hometown when I was 14 because my grandmother and granddad played and they used to play a lot. They were both very good golfers and I used to do all sports and always wanted to try everything. So, one day, I went there with my grandma and started from there, really. My parents do not play golf and I have two younger brothers. One of them plays semi-professional football and the other is a basketball player. I am the only one in my close family who´s playing golf now.

Before this, I was  a very good swimmer and also used to play netball at school, football, every other sport. I did not think that golf was a good option. But then, I got addicted to it.

Q: When did you first play for your National team?

I represented England in the Europeans under 21, not many because I went to America afterwards..

Q: What have you been doing these past two years?

After getting my provisional card for 2012, I only played three tournaments, because I did not have the money to play and also because I had back problems and I could not play.

Now I live in the north of Germany and I am working there with my coach. Because of my back, I did not know how was going to be, so I move there in April this year and it is working really well.

This year, I did a lot of work with fitness, to try to get my back stronger with the physio and I have been working on my game, with my coach. I played two tournaments on the LETAS and one tournament in the Asian Tour.

Q: Do you feel ready for the LET?

Yes, this week is the first time that I have competed since August. In the first round here (in Rabat), I was one under, I was not hitting the ball really well but my short game saved me. I am happy with my game

Q: Your plans these following weeks

After this first step, I will go back home to Germany and see my coach for few days and I will beg him to come to final stage.

Then, I will be in England for a week during Christmas. I love Christmas at home.

Q: Tell us about your game, what is the best part of your game? And the weakest part?

Right now, the short game and ability to get recover “up&down”. My driving distance is not really long, around 260-270 yards.

Q: What do you think you would need to improve to play in our tour?

If I wanted to play and stay on the tour, then I´d need to play more… I know I can do it, but I just need to be healthy and play more. I have a really good team around me there in Germany that helps me with my back, so it is looking good.

Unfortunately, Anna retired from Final Qualifying through injury during the fourth round.
