|The 2013 Deloitte Ladies Open champion from Lincolnshire will be making her first appearance in the World Ladies Championship at Mission Hills Resort Haikou next week and looking to build on her solid start to 2014.
How excited are you about visiting and playing at Mission Hills Haikou for the first time?
I am very excited to play at Mission Hills Haikou. I have heard so much about it and I have been and played at the Mission Hills in Shenzhen and if its anything like that then it’s going to be a great week.
What have you heard about this venue?
Everything about the resort is amazing; not only are the golf courses great but the hotel and spa area is a nice place to relax.
What do you think of the unique 3-in-1 format and your chance to represent your country in the team format?
I think our chances are a little high as myself and Hannah (Burke) are playing steady enough and by the time we get across to China it will be great and it will be like old times playing for England when we were amateurs so we know what we are doing. Team England all the way!
How excited are you to be returning to China?
I am looking forward to returning to China, I don't know why but I think it’s because it’s a new place for me to visit and play golf and a great tournament to be in too.
What do you think of the Chinese food?
Take it or leave it - mostly leave it nowadays! It’s not the same as our Saturday night takeaways!
What are your personal goals for the tournament?
Make my country proud and perform to the best I can.
Do you feel your game is good enough to win?
Yes I do after what I saw from being in Australia the past two weeks and how my game has improved in a short space of time. Its but the matter of time this season.
What are your general goals for this year?
My goals this year... It’s a secret! Of course I would love to win again, that’s why we play, but more top 10s and top 5s would make me happy. Consistency is a key subject.
How happy are you with your start to the season in Australia?
My result in the Australian Open was very good to say it was my second tournament of 2014. I blew all the cobwebs off the first week and it was great to be in the mix and see my game in such nice shape so early on, so a lot more of that to come in 2014.
How have you been preparing for the WLC at Mission Hills and how are you approaching the new season?
My prep for China has been in Australia playing to see how my game is and if my hard work has been paying off. It’s a new season and its new targets so everything is fresh.
Do you have any new hobbies or have you done anything particularly interesting or noteworthy over the off-season or last few weeks?
I had a little fun with Sophie Walker playing squash few times and got the hang of it second time.
Is there anything new in your set-up this year, i.e. new clubs, coach, fitness regime, charity work, sponsor etc?
All new irons and I’ve gone for something totally different in the putter and it seems to work. I’m working evener harder with my coaches. My fitness program is always changing so it’s good to see different things going on.
