Lindner poised for Mission Hills World Ladies Championship debut
 Print
Second-year LET member Ann-Kathrin Lindner from Germany  earned her first LET title at the HONMA Pilsen Golf Masters as a rookie in 2013 and now the member of GC St. Leon-Rot is hoping to kick-start her 2014 season with another strong showing in the Mission Hills World Ladies Championship at Mission Hills Resort Haikou.

How excited are you about visiting and playing at Mission Hills Haikou for the first time?

I've heard a lot of that resort. It should be fantastic and I am looking forward to play there.

What have you heard about this venue?

I've heard that it is the biggest resort in the world and all courses are unique and in perfect shape.

What do you think of the unique 3-in-1 format and your chance to represent your country in the team format?

I am proud to be able to represent Germany even I am just the no. 3 of our professionals. I get the chance and I want to use it. I think the format is interesting for us players and the spectators. We are going to find three winners in one tournament so it should be a good closing ceremony.

How excited are you to be returning to China?

It's my first time in Haikou, so it's a different area and that is always exciting. I loved being in Sanya last year. I noticed that my results are better when I am feeling good in the area where the tournament is.

What do you think of the Chinese food?

Normally I like it but sadly after the last stop in china I was sick.

What are your personal goals for the tournament?

As always, I will be trying to play my game, making the fewest mistakes possible and to be satisfied with myself at the end of the day.

Do you feel your game is good enough to win?

I think it is too early in the season to rate my game. I am not able to play a lot on the course in Germany and that is important for me. But you never know, during my win in Pilsen my irons weren't that good as they could be. There are a lot of factors in that game.

What are your general goals for this year?

I want to keep well and fit and become a top-10 player on the LET in the next three years.

How happy are you with your start to the season in Australia?

It was alright. As I said, I haven't played a lot after Dubai. I was satisfied with my long game besides some bad drives. But my putting wasn't good enough to be better.

How have you been preparing for the WLC at Mission Hills and how are you approaching the new season?

After Australia I just practiced at home in St. Leon-Rot. I did a lot of fitness last week to hold against the weather and time difference in China and of course worked on my putting. Unfortunately I spent most of the time indoors. I take the WLC and the Lalla Meryem Cup as practice rounds under tournament conditions to know what I need to prepare for the season after the next big break.

Do you have any new hobbies or have you done anything particularly interesting or noteworthy over the off-season or last few weeks?

Except for playing football there are no other hobbies. I was supporting my team as good as I could and was practicing with them. I like it to practice in a team: it's good fun on and off the court.

Is there anything new in your set-up this year, i.e. new clubs, coach, fitness regime, charity work, sponsor etc?

Not really up to now. I resume with my team from last year and hope to find sponsors. I am going to change my clothing to Adidas Porsche Design and I get a new man on my bag. I am looking forward to working with a professional caddie.
