Diana Luna and Victoria Lovelady, with their two assistants and the pasta
During the first round at the Ladies Italian Open, there was another battle going on and it was not on the golf course, but in the provisional kitchen situated in the garden at Golf Club Perugia. The competitors were Diana Luna, representing Italy, and Victoria Lovelady, from Brazil, representing the rest of the world.
For an hour the golf clubs were replaced with casseroles, pans, some other cooking tools and the main ingredients: pasta, tomato, basil, onion, oil and garlic. Everything provided by Golf Perugia's restaurant with the support of F&B manager, Luca Gatti. The challenge: to prepare the best pasta, “spaghetti al pomodoro e basilico”, spaghetti with tomato and basil with just one goal, to win the Italian Ladies Masterchef’s Cup. The referees, this time, had a really nice job which was to taste what Diana Luna and Victoria Lovelady cooked with the assistance of chef Pietro Mastrini, on Diana’s team, and chef Kandil Mahmoud, on Victoria’s team. Brazil’s Victoria invented a new type of pasta what she baptised as “Samba Pasta”.
Italy’s Veronica Zorzi and Stefania Croce were the selected referees, who had the tough job of trying the “Spaghetti” prepared by the two competitors. They both decided, after quite a deliberation, that Diana’s pasta plate was their favourite. So the final result of this tasty tournament was: Italy 1- Brazil 0: plus an enjoyable time together cooking and two delicious typical Italian plates which many people had the opportunity to taste afterwards!
