PROFESSIONAL
- In 2011, Helen played in three tournaments on the Ladies European Tour with a tie for 31st at the Portugal Ladies Open. She suffered with a shoulder injury all year.
- In 2010, recorded a season best tie for 5th at the Unicredit Ladies German Open presented by Audi.
- Tied for 8th at the AIB Ladies Irish Open; tied for 16th at the Evian Masters presented by Societe Generale and Allianz Ladies Slovak Open.
- Finished 34th on the Henderson Money List with season’s earnings of €70,026.47 from seven events.
- In 2009, became the first player in Solheim Cup history to captain a team, then qualify two years later as a player; best finish was a tie for fifth at the Evian Masters. Played for Europe in eight Solheim Cup matches 1990/92/94/96/98/2000/2002/2009.
- In 2008, won the Evian Masters and Grand China Air LPGA after five years without a win.
- In 2007, selected as The European Solheim Cup Team captain at Halmstad Golfklubb in Sweden, where the USA won 16 to 12.
- Inspired Europe to victory in 2000 Solheim Cup, winning two out of three points, including a vital 4&3 Singles triumph on Sunday against Beth Daniel.
- In 1997 underwent hip surgery and missed early part of the season but later finished second in World Championship of Women’s Golf, losing in playoff to Juli Inkster.
- In 1994 earned her second LPGA title, the PING/Welch’s Championship. Produced albatross two at the 18th hole on her way to a third Hennessy Cup victory.
- In 1993, won first LPGA major at the 1993 Nabisco Dinah Shore.
- In 1992, partnered Liselotte Neumann to victory in 1992 Sunrise Cup World Team Championship in Taiwan. Won 1992 LPGA Rookie of the Year.
- In 1990, earned first win as a professional at the Weetabix Women’s British Open.
- In 1989, WPGET Rookie of the Year.
AMATEUR
Represented Sweden in European Team Championship, European Junior Championship and World Team Championship. Alfredsson was the Swedish national champion from 1981-84, in 1986 and 1988. She won the 1984 Belgium Junior International Championship and finished third at the 1988 European Individual Championship.
PERSONAL
178cm with red hair and blue eyes. Started playing golf at the age of 11. Graduated from United States International University in San Diego in 1988 with a degree in International Business. Worked briefly as a model before turning her attentions to golf. Also flew with Blue Angels, the all girl Red Devils. Married to Kent Nilsson, a former NHL Ice Hockey player, now coach. Helen caddied for him at European Tour Qualifying School for the 2006 season, where he missed by one stroke. Helen’s hobbies include reading and squash. Whilst injured, she worked as a television commentator for The Golf Channel during the 2011 season and for the world feed at The 2011 Solheim Cup. Helen lives in Orlando, Florida. She shares her birthday with Seve Ballesteros and Hugh Hefner.
