Biography Boeljon, Christel (NL)

PROFESSIONAL

  • In 2013, Christel played in seven LET tournaments and posted one top-10 finish at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open. She finished ranked 53rd on the ISPS Handa Order of Merit. She also played 20 LPGA events and ended 67th on its Official Money List
  • In 2012, Christel played 6 LET events. She recorded two more victories: firstly at the Gold Coast RACV Australian Ladies Masters and secondly at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open where she successfully defended the title. She finished the season ranked 14th on the ISPS Handa Order of Merit, with earnings of €104,884 and ranked 11th on The Solheim Cup points list.
  • In 2011, Christel earned a long overdue maiden victory as an individual at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open at National Golf Club in Belek, Antalya, in May. She posted five additional top-10 finishes, including second places in Slovakia and Finland. She finished the season ranked eighth on the Money List with earnings of €161,171.99.
  • Christel made history as the first European Solheim Cup team member from the Netherlands in the 22-year history of the event. She qualified automatically from the European points standings after two consistent seasons on tour. She earned a vital point towards Europe’s historic victory after defeating Brittany Lincicome by two holes in the singles.
  • In 2010, recorded seven top-10 finishes including joint runner-up three times. Tied for second at the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open in China, narrowly missing out to Lee-Anne Pace in a four-way play-off. Also tied for second at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open and the S4C Wales Ladies Championship.
  • In 2009, Christel enjoyed a sensational start to her professional career when she and Marjet van der Graaff claimed a four stroke victory at the Comunitat Valenciana European Nations Cup, representing the Netherlands at La Sella Golf Resort in Alicante, Spain.
  • Posted a career low 66 (-6) in the first round of the Open de Espana Femenino at Panoramica G&CC.
  • Finished 35th on the season-ending Henderson Money List with earnings of €48,892.83.

AMATEUR

Winner of Dutch Stroke play championship twice. Dutch National Amateur Champion 2008. 3rd European Individual Championships 2008. 2nd European Team Championships 2008, 2nd individual. 2nd NCAA Championships 2007. Finished 10th ABN AMRO Ladies Open 2008 5th individual world amateur 2008. 

PERSONAL

Christel started to play golf at the age of 7. She enjoys all sports, especially field hockey and tennis. Interests also include listening to music and reading. She studied Spanish for two-and-a-half years at Purdue University in the USA as well as a semester of Sociology, but left university after three years to pursue golf as a career.
