Biography Macrae, Heather (SCO)


  • In 2013, Heather was able to play a full season for the first time by combining events on the LET and Access Series. She played in two tournaments on the LET. She earned a career best finish of T6th at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open after firing rounds of 70, 80 and 70 on the Fidra Links Course at Archerfield Links in East Lothian. She also played in the Helsingborg Open but missed the cut. Aside from the LET, Heather played in 14 events on the LET Access Series and recorded five top 10s including her first win at the Sölvesborg Open in Sweden. She ended the season ranked sixth on the LETAS order of merit, just outside the top five that earned a full card in category 7 for the 2014 LET season. Heather then returned to Lalla Aicha Tour School in Marrakech where she finished T34th, two strokes outside the top 30 that earned Membership in Exemption Category 8a but earning Membership in Category 9b for the 2014 season.
  • In 2012, Heather played in four tournaments and made one cut finishing 50th at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open. She also played in four LETAS events and made two cuts, twice finishing 27th.
  • In 2011, Heather joined the LET and played in three tournaments with a season best tie for 52nd at the Ladies Scottish Open.


At 15 years old Heather got her first cap for Scotland at under 16 level.  Having moved to represent Dunblane New Golf Club, Heather went on to represent Scotland at every level : U18, U21 and ladies in almost every major amateur team event in Europe. Winning the Scottish Girls Championship at Glenbervie Golf Club in 2001, Heather accepted a golf scholarship at college then University in the United States for five years.  In 2005 Heather was capped for the Great Britain & Ireland team to play Europe in the Vagliano Trophy where she was on the winning team.  A month later Heather reached the pinnacle of her amateur career when she won the British Ladies Strokeplay Championship at Nairn Golf Club. Achieving a handicap of +4 Heather turned professional in September 2007 at the Scottish Ladies Open, a European Tour event held at The Carrick on Loch Lomond.


Heather was introduced to golf by her father when aged 10 and began playing in the town of Callander in Scotland. She attended San Diego State University for five years and graduated in 2006 in Public Administration. After a further year and a half of amateur golf, she undertook a PGA Training degree for three and a half years whilst at Gullane and Gleneagles. She enjoys seeing family and friends, cinema, music and going to the gym. Her golf coach is her brother, Andrew MacRae.
