<AMATEUR Smriti was the1993 Malaysian National champion, the 1994 India National Stroke Play and Match Play champion and 1994 Indian Open champion.Represented India as amateur from 1992- 94.
PROFESSIONAL Played on the US LPGA Tour from 1997, where her career best finish was 4th at the 1998 Australian Ladies Masters. Career highlights also include 11th place at the 1999 Weetabix Women's British Open. Held non-exempt status on the LPGA Tour from 2000. In 2000, competed on the Ladies European Tour (LET), where she finished in the top 20 six times; competed in one event on the Futures Tour and finished second. In 2004, won the Frye Classic and Hunters Oak FUTURES Golf Classic on the Futures Tour. Suffered a series of injuries from 2003 including an ankle injury in 2003. Underwent wrist surgery in 2005 and surgery for tennis elbow in 2007. Played in 9 US LPGA tournaments in 2008 and made one cut: T50th at the MasterCard Classic Honoring Alejo Peralta. Holds non-exempt status on the LPGA Tour in 2009.
2009 Highlights In 2009, Smriti played in 15 events on the LET and posted two top 20 finishes with a best result of T15th at the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open in China. Finished the season ranked 97th on the Henderson Money List with season's earnings of �13,437.21.
PERSONAL 165cm with dark brown hair and brown eyes. Started playing golf when she was 12. Credits her mother and brother as the individuals most influencing her career. Has one brother. Hobbies include swimming, watching movies and tennis. Attended Loreta House, Calcutta University. Graduated in 1993 with a degree in English. Resides in the USA.
