Biography Nordqvist, Anna (SWE)

PROFESSIONAL

  • In 2011, along with Sophie Gustafson, successfully defended the European Nations Cup team event in Spain. Played in four other events on the LET schedule with season-best finish a tie for 7th at the Ricoh Women’s British Open. Recorded 5 top-10 finishes on the LPGA with a season-best tie for 2nd at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. Member of the victorious European Solheim Cup Team at Killeen Castle in Ireland; posted a 2-2-0 record with two points scored taking overall record to 4-4-0.
  • 2010 Highlights
  • In 2010, won the Comunitat Valenciana European Nations Cup at La Sella Resort in Spain, representing Sweden with Sophie Gustafson.
  • Posted three top-10 finishes on the LET including 2nd at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, 6th at the AIB Ladies Irish Open and 9th at the Women's Australian Open.  On the LPGA, tied for second at the LPGA State Farm Classic; tied for 10th at the Kraft Nabisco Championship and won the Mojo 6, an unofficial LPGA event.
  • In 2009, after winning LET Q School for 2009 at La Manga Club by three strokes in January, Anna became a first-time winner at the McDonald's LPGA Championship Presented by Coca-Cola, the second major championship of 2009. She later earned her second victory at the 2009 LPGA Tour Championship Presented by Rolex. Selected as a Captain’s pick by Alison Nicholas to represent Europe at The Solheim Cup as a rookie.  She competed in 8 tournaments on the LET and recorded four top ten finishes. Her season best was second at the Madrid Ladies Masters, where she shot a career-low 63 in the final round to make a play-off, only to be defeated by Azahara Munoz at the first extra hole. Anna also tied for fourth at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, tied for 5th at the S4/C Wales Ladies Championship and tied for 10th at the Deutsche Bank Ladies Open. Named 2009 Ryder Cup Wales Rookie of the Year.

British Girls Amateur Champion 2005. British Amateur Champion 2008. Won European Team Championships in 2006 and 2008. Won World Amateur Team Championship 2008. Won Smyth Salver as the leading amateur at the 2008 RICOH Women’s British Open at Sunningdale (T42nd). Leading amateur at the 2008 Scandinavian TPC Hosted by Annika (T6th). Leading amateur in US women’s college golf whilst representing Arizona State University in 2008. Turned professional with a handicap of +4.8. Anna won LET Q School for 2009 at La Manga Club by three strokes.

PERSONAL

183cm tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. Started playing golf at the age of 13 at home in Eskilstuna, located a one-and-a-half hour drive south of Stockholm, in Sweden. Attended Arizona State University, where she studied Inter Disciplinary Studies for two-and-a-half-years. Resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA. Anna’s hobbies include watching and playing all sports. She used to swim for six years but decided that she was best at golf. Now coached by Tim Suzoy and attached to Torshalla Golf Club in Sweden.
