Biography Stupples, Karen (ENG)


  • In 2013, Karen played in 2 LET events and missed both cuts. She played in 18 tournaments on the LPGA Tour and, after her dramatic weight loss in 2012, concentrated her efforts on golf broadcasting and commentary.
  • In 2012, Karen played in 3 LET events and her best finish was T42nd at the Ladies Irish Open. On the LPGA, Karen played 21 events, 12 cuts made, $116,909 (73). She had one top-10 finish: recorded a season-best tied for 10th at the LPGA LOTTE Championship Presented by J Golf.
  • In 2011, Karen played in five events on the LET. She recorded a best-season finish of tied for 10th at the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open. Karen played mainly in the LPGA, where she ended ranked 29th on the Money List with season’s earnings of $397,081.00. She played 22 events including two top-10 finishes. Made her second appearance in The Solheim Cup and was a member of the victorious European team at Killeen Castle.
  • In 2010, Karen played in three events on the LET. Her best finish, 5th coming in the S4C Wales Championship where she was defending her title.   • In 2008, best finish on the LPGA was a tie for second at the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill; crossed the $3 million mark in career earnings with her fourth-place finish at the Grand China Air LPGA; along with rookie Sandra Gal, led the Tour with 12 eagles.
  • In 2007, Karen played in two LET events in 2007: The Ricoh Women's British Open where she was T42nd and the Ladies English Open at Chart Hills, where she tied for second. LET earnings were EUR 20,434.04. After the birth of her son Logan, Karen competed in seven events on the US LPGA Tour, with a best finish of T10th at the Mitchell Company Tournament of Champions. Finished 112th on the US money list with prize money of USD$61,613.
  • In 2006, Karen played in three LET events and posted T9 in the Scandinavian TPC Hosted by Annika, T10 in the Weetabix Women's British Open and T31 in the Evian Masters. She earned EUR 60,123.92 to finish 29th on the New Star Money List. Played the majority of the year on the US LPGA Tour before falling pregnant with her first child, due in April 2007. On the LPGA, played in 22 tournaments and posted two top tens. Best finish was 4th at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay. Earned US$276,188.00 to close the season 49th on the US Money List.
  • In 2005, made debut on the European Solheim Cup Team. Karen played in five LET events with her best finish 5th at the Ladies English Open at Chart Hills in her home county of Kent. Karen shone in the major championships and put up a strong defence of her Weetabix Women's British Open title at Royal Birkdale, where she finished T11. She posted one further top twenty finish of T18 at the ANZ Ladies Masters, in Australia. Karen also represented England at the 2005 Women's World Cup of Golf in South Africa alongside Laura Davies, and the pair finished T9. Karen was one of Catrin Nilsmark's five wild card picks and made her Solheim Cup debut at Crooked Stick GC, in Carmel, Indiana. She spent most of the season competing on the LPGA Tour where her best finish from 23 events played was T10 at the US Women's Open at Cherry Hills Village in June. Earned $304,385.00 to close the season T41st on the ADT Money list.
  • In 2004 earned 2 victories. After a maiden victory at the Welch/Fry's Championship on the LPGA Tour, Karen went from strength to strength through the season and thrilled the galleries at Sunningdale when she became the third English woman to win a major championship when she won the Weetabix Women's British Open in a sparkling display of golf in the final round which included an eagle/albatross start to her 64! Karen played in four LET events and finished second at the ANZ Masters behind a rampant Annika Sorenstam at Royal Pines. Finished T3 at the Ladies English Open in her home county of Kent and finished fourth at the Evian Masters, a week before Sunningdale. On the LPGA, Karen posted five further top 10s and seven top 20s to close the season at 6th on the ADT Money list earning $968,852.
  • In 2003, best finish was fourth place at the State Farm Classic.
  • In 2002, posted a career-best tie for third at the Safeway Classic.  
  • In 2001, recorded a season-best tie for ninth at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.
  • In 2000, best finish was seventh place at the Kathy Ireland LPGA Classic.
  • In 1999, fired a career-low 64 in the opening round of the State Farm Rail Classic en route to a tie for eighth place; returned to the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, where she tied for 17th to earn exempt status for the 2000 season.
  • In 1998, turned professional following the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship; qualified for the Tour by tying for 52nd at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn non-exempt status for the 1999 season.


Represented Great Britain in the 1996 and 1998 Curtis Cup competitions. She also represented England Juniors from 1989-91 and England Seniors from 1995-98.

She played collegiate golf at Florida State University, winning two events and being named a Second-Team All-American in 1995.
