Biography Jutanugarn, Ariya (THA)

After her first victory at the Lalla Aicha Tour School for the 2013 season, Ariya showed that she was going to be one rookie to follow. This was confirmed quickly on her first appearances at the beginning of the season when she finished tied for 2nd at the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters and posted her first top 10 finish. She earned her first LET title in March, at the Lalla Meryem Cup, and attended a total of four events. Unfortunately, an accidental injury while she was in the US with her sister Moriya made her stop playing for the rest of the season. She ended the year ranked 19th on the Money List and a total earnings of €74,520.74.

Ariya won the U.S. Junior Amateur, U.S. Amateur Public Links, AJGA Rolex Girls Junior, Junior PGA, Canadian Women's Amateur and Polo Golf Junior Classic in 2012. She won her second consecutive AJGA Rolex Junior Player of the Year honors and then in December, went on to win the Lalla Aicha Tour School Final Stage for 2013 by five shots. In 2011, she earned low amateur honors at the Kraft Nabisco Championship when she tied for 25th place. She achieved the following results in additional professional tournaments: T8th at the 2011 Honda LPGA Thailand, T9th at the 2012 Sime LPGA Darby, T12th 2012 Honda LPGA Thailand, T22nd 2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship. She ended her amateur career in December 2012 ranked 2nd on the Amateur World Rankings, behind Lydia Ko.

Ariya was born in Bangkok, Thailand and started to play golf aged 5 ½ at Natee driving range. Her parents own a golf shop in Thailand and have been instrumental in her career. Ariya’s older sister, Moriya, won the LPGA Tour’s Final Qualifying School for the 2013, before Ariya matched her by winning the LET’s Tour School. Aside from golf, Ariya enjoys tennis and swimming.
